II Annual Lecture Series |
Eminent resource persons are invited to share their views and experiences on different topics in the Annual lecture series. |
As a part of this series the first lecture was delivered by Hon’ble Shri Soli Sorabjee on ‘Framing of Indian Constitution’ on 26th July 2008.. Speaking on the debates of the constituent assembly, he discussed at length the deliberations and discussions of the drafting committee as well as the true spirit of the Constitution. |

III Internship |
1. NGO Placement |
At the end of the First Semester students were sent to Non Government Organization for training as interns. Students were given an option to select NGO even outside Ahmedabad. The students through E-Mail submitted weekly reports. At the end of the training students submitted their final report and shared their experience with their classmates. The programme helped to sensitize the students with the society’s need.

2. Trial Court |
At the end of III semester students are assigned internship under an Advocate. They are expected to understand the practical intricacies of trial court procedures.
Each student is expected to observe one civil and one criminal matter. Every week they are expected to submit their weekly report. Students have to maintain daily dairy and record their hourly activities date wise. At the end of 21 days internship they have to submit their entire report of the trial court internship programme.

IV. Workshop on NGOs and Law Schools: Working Partnership for social cause |
Two days workshop was organized on 4th and 5th December 2008 for the first semester students of 2008 batch. This workshop is meant to acquaint students with Concept, Nature, Objectives and Working strategy of NGOs. Mr Kirti S. Bhatt HOD of Legal Department, Consumer Education Research Society (CERS) explained—“Need of NGOS, Output of the projects, how law can contribute to social cause.” Miss Pratibha Pandya from Self Employed Women’s Association introduced her organization and gave detailed information about their projects and activities. Students from 2007 batch shared their experiences of NGO training with the students of first Semester. Interaction was very educative.

V. State level interactive workshop on: Quest for better Legal Education |
The state level workshop was organized to discuss –what could be done further to improve the legal education in India. The workshop aimed to deliberate on recommendations of the National Knowledge Commission.
Hon’ble Justice C.K. Thakkar (retd.) Judge, Supreme Court of India delivered the key note address at the inaugural session of the workshop. Adv. Vijay patel chaired the First session of the workshop wherein –‘the role of the Bar Council in the improvement of legal education was discussed. Prof. H.C. Dholakia, chaired the second session wherein the role of the other controlling bodies like U.G.C. , Universities etc in legal education were discussed. Academicians, lawyers and legal stalwarts participated and shared their valuable suggestions.

VI. Connaissance 2009 |
The Institute in order to grow and progress, develop and nurture, broaden and innovate the young minds of the students had organised for the 1st time, “CONNAISSANCE 2009”. CONNAISSANCE was an initiative of the Literary and Debate Committee of the Institute, for the Institute itself. But this time, true to its promise of progress and growth, CONNAISSANCE had been taken to a whole new level. |

CONNAISSANCE 2009 was all about showcasing the hidden potentials of the students as well as giving them thought provoking ideas.

1. Parlamentary Debate
|
|
A city level Parliamentary Debate was organized on 13th of February, 2009. All colleges within Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar REGION, irrespective of the stream were invited to participate in the debate. The students from Gandhinagar National Law School won the debate and S.M. Patel Institute of Commerce were the runners up.

2. Talk Show on the topic-“Should Indian Professionals be made to sign bonds?”:
|
|
Second in the series was the Talk Show on the topic of –“Should Indian Professionals be made to sign bonds?” It was based on the very igneous issue of brain drain which is vacuuming the talent form the country. Countries like Singapore have made it compulsory for the students receiving the Higher Education form it to sign a bond which makes it compulsory for them to serve the country for few years. The discussion was focused on the tussle between ‘Serving your country v. Earning for Yourself’, and asking whether the similar provision be implemented in India. 3. Lecture: Guest Lecture by Mr. Robert Gaybrick, Partner and Co-Chair, Morgan Lewis, Intellectual Property Practice (U.S.A.)

We were honoured to have an Expert Lecture on the topic of Intellectual Property Rights, the much sought-after field today, by none other than Mr. Robert Gaybrick, Partner and Co-Chair, Morgan Lewis, Intellectual Property Practices(U.S.A.). the lecture was scheduled on 25th of February, 2009 Along with inviting the students from different colleges, we also invited eminent Lawyers and Hon’ble Judges to attend the Guest Lecture. |

4. Panel Discussion: “Critical Appraisal of National Investigation Agency Act, 2008”:
|
|
Last in the series was the Panel Discussion on the topic of “Critical Appraisal of National Investigation Agency Act, 2008” which was scheduled on 28th February, 2009 with a view to encourage some productive discussion on very pertinent topics. The panelists were Shri Devang Nanavati, Advocate, High Court of Gujarat, Shri S.V. Raju, Sr. Advocate High Court of Gujarat, Dr. Mukul Sinha, Advocate, High Court of Gujarat, Mr.Rajendra Shukla,President, Shri Yogkshem foundation for human dignity, Mr. Vijay Singh Ex-DG of Police. Students from different law colleges of Ahmedabad participated in the event.
