Mathematics:
Mathematics is the language of engineering.
It caters to all disciplines of engineering.
It is essential to understand how mathematics
works in order to master the complex relationships
present in modern engineering systems and products.
Mathematics provides clarity and precision to
vague and intuitive ideas. Modeling of physical
processes can also be done using mathematics.
In the undergraduate courses, mostly post calculus
topics are covered viz., Differential equations,
Multiple integrals, Fourier series, Fourier
transforms, Laplace transforms, Vector calculus,
Numerical methods etc.
Discrete mathematics and mathematical logic
lie at the heart of any modern study of computer
science. Computer Engineering, Information Technology
and M.C.A. students are given courses in Discrete
Mathematical Structures to fulfill these needs.
The department takes special care in helping
the students in overcoming their difficulties
of mathematics and convincing them the importance
of the subject in their professional life. The
department also interacts with the students
and faculty of all other departments in giving
suggestions and solutions to their problems
involving mathematical applications.
Humanities:
Department offers Management and Humanities
oriented courses as Institute Electives to the
students of B.Tech. Semester of VI, VII and
VIII. The courses presently offered are Entrepreneurship
Development, Human Resource management, Elements
of Marketing Management, Introduction to Accounts
and Probabilities and Statistics etc. These
courses facilitate student of engineering to
get an understanding & insight of Management
related subjects, which will be helpful to them
in their future career.
The Department offers courses on Communication
Skills in English, Engineering Economics, Business
Management and Industrial Management. There
is no gainsaying the fact that the students
of engineering need to improve their communication
skills in order to survive in the globalized
economic scenario. They are called upon to interact
with people of different regions, languages
and nationalities. A sound knowledge of the
practice in communication skills in English
will go a long way in helping them to share
their experience with others.
To facilitate self-learning of students for
various subjects such as English, Communication
Skills, Personality Development etc. the Department
makes use of the software “Digital Mentor”.
The language laboratory is equipped with sixty
computers and students have intensive practice
in communication skills.
Engineering Economics and Business Management
(EEBM) is an important subject offered by the
Department of Humanities. An in-depth study
of Economics and Business Management is essential
for them because the students can imbibe the
basic knowledge of both micro economics and
macro economics such as demand analysis, computation
of national income according to different methods
such as income method, product method and expenditure
method, demand forecasting techniques both for
new products and for established products, repercussions
of economic planning in India, the utility of
Break-Even Analysis to the corporate sector
in evaluating the economic viability of various
projects and basic knowledge of managements
such as planning, organization, directing, co-ordination
, human resource management etc. will also help
the engineering students to study the ways and
means by which corporate performance can be
enhanced by bringing accountability and transparency
to boost the interest of all the stakeholders.
