The Master of Science in Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Microbiology programmes are establish not only in anticipation of the need of country but to provide an alternative post graduate programme to students who desire a short time degree programme and whose career objective is to go beyond academic research. It aims to provide students with a broad training and education in  Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Microbiology encompassing the science business, legal, social and ethical aspects to enable students in multi disciplinary, innovative and emphasized hands-on learning of the basic principles and techniques that are very important to Biotechnology and Biochemistry. The required core courses are designed to cover the broad aspects of Biological Sciences and the effective courses are dependent on the student’s particular area of specialization. Intensive laboratory course in molecular biology techniques and bio processing techniques are part of the core requirements. A series of lectures and seminars by leading scientists and academicians and industry mentors, expose students to cutting edge science and to the business, legal, social and ethical issues in Biotechnology. Team working and communication skills are encouraged through the various courses and through the required industry internship and research project. Masters of this programme are expected to have the knowledge and skills needed to assume roles in various areas of Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Microbiology as academic educators, as scientists in both academic and industry settings, as a decision maker in business and management teams in government and in Biotechnology industries as Bio entrepreneurs and as members and leaders of governmental, public and private organizations dealing with social, ethical and legal issues of Biotechnology.

To stay relevant and responsive to the current and future needs of Biological Sciences, Industry & Academic advisory Board has been established to provide feedback on issues that may be concerned with the programme.

Two years postgraduate programmes (M. Sc.) as approved by the Nirma University are offered with specialization in:

Biochemistry
Biotechnology
Microbiology
