At Institute of Pharmacy, it is a belief to facilitate production and dissemination of knowledge, information, insights & intellect in all scientific communities. The Library plays a vital role in the collection development and dissemination of scientific and technical information to meet the present and future academic and research needs of varied users.
Presently, the Library at Institute of Pharmacy houses more than 6792 volumes of books selectively chosen for reading and reference, 250 CDs, 551 Bound Volumes, 193 Project Reports (B.Pharm), 76 Research Project Reports (M.Pharm),
1 PhD Thesis and subscribes about 70 printed
national, 34 international periodicals including
4 e-Journals, and 11 newspapers.
User-friendly library software called Alice for Windows (AfW) has been adopted at the Library to make it fully automated. This popular software facilitates automated circulation (issue & return) of the books and location and availability information of the books stocked in the library. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)
is also available on the Internet for inquiring
about the books.
The Library is implementing RFID Security System, which has a great potential for performing multiple applications that combines security and item identification in a single tag and reduces Library loss by providing effective Library direction systems. RFID system saves time of users and Library staff, further helps them to concentrate on providing other information services to the users. It provides a platform to automate most of the processes performed by the library staff like Check in – Check out, sorting, stock management and inventory.
