·  Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University has recognised research centres i.e.B. V. Patel PERD center, Ahmedabad and Cadila Pharmaceuticals Clinical Research and Pharmacology Centre, Dholka for conducting research leading to doctorate (Ph.D.)

·  Introduction of a new course of B.Pharm Hons. (5 Year Integrated Programme) in the academic year 2007-2008.

·  State of art Postgraduate Building for Masters, Ph.D and Faculty Research comprising of Laboratories in all fields of pharmaceutical  specialization in the academic year 2007-2008.

·  State of art animal house for housing more than 250 animals like rat, mice, guinea pig and rabbits as per CPCSEA guidelines.

·  Establishment of Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University of Science and Technology Alumni Association and commencement of its activities (IPNUAA).

·  Prof. Y.K.Agrawal has received a grant of Rs. 41,52,600/- by the GMDC Science and Research Center for a research project entitled “Supramolecular: Nanomedicine and nanotechnology pre-concentration, separation and recovery of toxic trace metal”. A grant worth of Rs. 32,00,000/- has been given for a permanent equipment.

·  Prof. Y.K.Agrawal received  a grant of sum of Rs. 60,000/- from Government of India, Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of Science & Technology [DST], New Delhi -  & Grant received of sum of Rs. 25,000/- from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research [CSIR], Human Resource Development Group, New Delhi for for the National Seminar on Modern Trends In Nanotechnology and Supramolecular Assemblies from  2nd to 3rd April, 2005

·  Dr. Tejal Shah received a project entitled “Studies on design and development of dissolvable oral drug delivery systems of a poorly water soluble non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug” sanctioned by GUJCOST for an amount of Rs. 55,000/- in September 2006.

·  Ms. Bhoomika Goyal and Ms. Shraddha Bhadada received a project entitled “Comparative evaluation of various ACE inhibitors, spironolactone and selective beta blockers on cardiovascular complications associated with Diabetes Mellitus” sanctioned by GUJCOST for an amount of Rs. 60,000/- in May 2007.

·  Mr. Hardik G. Bhatt received research grant of Rs.25000 for the project entitled “Design, Synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of some substituted quinoline derivatives” from Nirma University of Science and Technology in August 2007.

·  Ms. Renuka Mishra received research grant of Rs.25000 for the project entitled “Formulation, development of rapidly dissolving films containing anti-histaminic drug" in March 2007 from Nirma University of Science and Technology.

·  Ms. Shraddha Bhadada received research grant of Rs.25000 for the project entitled “Phytochemical Analysis and Pharmacological Evaluation of Tephrosia Purpurea with special reference to Diabetes Mellitus & Cataract” in December 2007 from Nirma University of Science and Technology.

·  Ms Jignasa K. Savjani received research grant of Rs.25000 for the project entitled “Development and Antimicrobial Screening of Novel Heterocyclic Molecules” from Nirma University of Science and Technology in December 2007.

·  Mr. Mayur Patel received research grant of Rs.25000 for the project entitled “Formulation and evaluation of colon targeted drug delivery system of mebeverine hydrochloride" in January 2009 from Nirma University of Science and Technology.

·  Mr. Dhaivat Parikh received research grant of Rs.25000 for the project entitled “Formulation and development of floating dosage from of cinnarizine" in January 2009 from Nirma University of Science and Technology.

·  Mr. Kuntal Manna received research grant of Rs.25000 for the project entitled “Synthesis of certain macromolecular ligands or receptors and their biological applications” from Nirma University of Science and Technology in January 2009.

·  Prof.Y.K.Agrawal is a recipient of A.T.Athavale Award 2005 for his contribution to Analytical Chemistry by Society of Analytical Scientists India.

·  Prof. Y.K. Agrawal received the SPARCS, IIT, New Delhi, Award for his outstanding work in Application Research in Chemical System of 2006.

·  Dr.Tejal Shah received best paper award 2004 granted by Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India for publishing paper entitled “Patient counselling by Pharmacists” in the official publication Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and Research.

·  Ms. Bhoomika Goyal received prestigious G.Achari prize at the 38th Annual conference of India Pharmacological Society for best research paper presented by young research scientist in 2007.

·  Ms. Bhoomika Goyal received the N. S. Dhalla Young Scientist Award for Basic Sciences during Joint conference of International Society of Heart Research, International Academy of Cardiovascular Science & Heart Failure Society of India for paper presentation in 2008.

·  Consultancy work was conducted on “Formulation and development of effervescent tablets” by the Department of Pharmaceutics for Alfrez Pvt. Ltd., Vadodara.

·  Consultancy work on “New drug delivery system/sustained release/extended release formulation by the Department of Pharmaceutics for Themis Medicare Ltd., Mumbai.

·  Consultancy work on an R & D project by the Department of Pharmaceutics for Vac-U-Max Asia Pvt. Ltd. for validating Pneumatic Conveying systems.

·  Ms. Bhoomika R. Goyal attended 2nd World Congress 2006 International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences between 14th July to 16th July 2006 at SAPPORO, JAPAN for research paper presentation on “Comparative Evaluation of atenolol and Metoprolol on cardiovascular complications associated with streptozotocin induced type I diabetes mellitus in rats.”

·  Dr. Priti J. Mehta attended the 35th conference of federation of Analytical Chemists and Spectroscopy Society between 28th September to 2nd October 2008 at RENO, NEVADA, USA for research paper presentation on “Simple and rapid spectrophotometric method for the estimation of erythromycin esters in its marketed dosage forms.”


Department of Pharmaceutics 

·  Dr. Avani F. Amin is a Reviewer for the Journals: Journal of Pharmacy & Pharmacology, Journal of Microencapsulation, AAPS PharmSciTech and Pharmpedia etc.

·  Dr. Avani F. Amin is the Vice President of the APTI- Gujarat State Branch.

·  Dr. Avani F. Amin is the executive council member of IPA- Gujarat State Branch.

·  Poster presented by M.Pharm student – Ms. Apexa V. Patel bagged a prize at the National Seminar on Modern Trends in Superamolecular Nanotechnology & Nanomedicine at Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University of Science & Technology, Ahmedabad in 2007

·  Poster presented by M. Pharm. Students – Mr. Sunny Shah and Mr. Mohit Shah bagged a THIRD Prize at the State Level Paper Presentation Competition 2007 in Pharmaceutical Technology organized by A.R. College of Pharmacy & G.H. Patel Institute of Pharmacy, Vallabh Vidyanagar and sponsored by GUJCOST.

 

  Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis

·  Prof.Y.K.Agrawal has been nominated as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of International Journal, fullerene, Nanotubes and Carbon Nan structures, Published by Taylor & Francis, USA.

·  Prof.Y.K.Agrawal has been nominated a members of Indian Pharmacopeial  Committee by Ministry of Health Government of India.

·  Prof.Y.K.Agrawal has been nominated as a panel a member of Asian Analytical Society, Japan.

·  Prof.Y.K.Agrawal is a recipient of A.T.Athavale Award 2005 for his contribution to Analytical Chemistry by Society of Analytical Scientists India.

·  Prof. Y.K. Agrawal received the SPARCS, IIT, New Delhi, Award for his outstanding work in Application Research in Chemical System of 2006.

·  Prof.Y.K.Agrawal has been invited to deliver the plenary lecture, International Inductive Plasma Emission conference in December 2005, Arizona USA by Israel society of Analytical Chemistry January 2006.

·  Mr. Hardik G. Bhatt received research grant of Rs.25000 for the project entitled “Design, Synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of some substituted quinoline derivatives” from Nirma University of Science and Technology in August 2007.

·  Mr. Hardik G. Bhatt is a reviewer of Journal – Medicinal Chemistry Research.

·  Dr. Priti Mehta is the member of Research Progress Committee of Ph.D. student at PERD center.

·  Poster presented by M.Pharm student- Ms. Deesha Gandhi was awarded FIRST prize for the best poster entitled “Fullerenes: New Allotropes of carbon” presented in National seminar on Frontiers in Nanotechnology: A Pharmaceutical Perspective held at Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University on 20th March, 2009.

 

Department of Pharmacology

·  Dr. Jagruti Patel is the Member of Institutional Animal Ethics Committee of Zydus Biologics Ltd.

·  Dr. Jagruti Patel is the reviewer for the journals – Indian Journal of Pharmacology, International Journal of Green Pharmacy.

·  Dr. Shital J. Panchal is a reviewer in Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics and African Journal of Pharmacology and Therapeutics.

·  Poster presented by M.Pharm student was awarded First Prize for the Best Poster Presented- 2007 in National Seminar on Modern Trends in Supramolecular Nanotechnology & Nanomedicine held at Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University of Science and Technology, Ahmedabad on 16-17th March, 2007.

·  Poster presented by post graduate students – Ms. Sneha Jaiswal, Neeraj Vyas & Parag Bariya bagged the first prize in poster presentation competition at GCRI in 2007.

·  M.Pharm student – Ms. Sneha Jaiswal won the second prize in a State level one day debate competition at APMC college of Pharmacy, Himmatnagar on 11th October, 2007

 

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

·  Poster presented by M.Pharm students – Bhakti SR and Agola AS was awarded a prize for the best poster entitled “Applications of biosensors devices” presented in National Seminar on Supramolecular Assemblies, Nanotechnology and Nanomedicines held at Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University on 4th – 5th March, 2006.

·  Poster presented by M.Pharm students – Upadhyay J.R. and Rabadia NV bagged a prize for the best poster entitled “Gold Nanotubes : Synthesis, Characterization and Applications” presented in National Seminar on Modern Trends in Supramolecular Nanotechnology & Nanomedicine held at Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University of Science & Technology, on 16th – 17th March, 2007
