The following students’ associations are formed and run by the students in addition to the curriculum / development program.
These bodies conduct co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. These activities are designed to :

Lectures by eminent experts, debate contests, general knowledge tests, essay competitions, sports, cultural activities and various other programmes are organized which stimulate interest in the diverse spheres of the students life. This encourages emotional integration amongst students.
Chemical Engineering Students’ Society (ChES’S)
ChES’S (Chemical Engineering Students’ Society) was inaugurated on Monday, May 6, 2002; by Shri Pareshbhai Parikh, M.D., “Parikh Enterprise”, Odhav, Ahmedabad. Objectives of the Society.
The Objectives of the society are as under :
- To establish and maintain contact among the present students and faculty of Chemical Engineering Department, Nirma Institute of Diploma Studies.
- To extend all assistance and co-operation to the institute in its endeavors for satisfying the mission of producing a complete engineer and a worthy citizen.
- To encourage and assist the students of Chemical Engineering Department, Nirma Institute of Diploma Studies in various academic and cultural activities.
- To establish students’ department library for the benefit of students of Chemical Engineering Department, Nirma Institute of Diploma Studies.
Activities of the society :
- Chemical Engineering Student’s Society organized a Volley Ball Tournament in the year 2003 under the name of ChES’S CUP.
- Cricket and carom tournament were organized under Chemical Engineering Student’s Society. Quiz competition was also organized by ChES’S.
- Institute level Antakshri competition was organized by ChES’S members in academic year 2005-06.
- Institute level Antakshri competition was organized by ChES’S members in academic year 2005-06.
- Institute level “Kite Flying Competition” was organized by ChES’S on 28th Jan.2006.
Society is publishing news letter “CHEMTECH” regularly. Total four issues have been published so far.
Mechanical Engineering Students’ Organisation (MESO)
Mechanical Engineering Students’ Organisation (MESO) is an organization comprising of students of Mechanical Engineering Program. The aim of the organization is to motivate the students to organize, to coordinate & to participate in Co-curricular Activities and Extra – Curricular Activities along with their regular Academic Activities. Such Activities helps the students to be more competitive in the era of Globalization.
Therefore the Organisation regularly organise the activities like Paper Presentation Competition, Project & Model Competition, Debate & Elocution Competition, Group Discussion, General Knowledge Quiz, Logical & Reasoning Quiz, Painting & Poster Making Event, Cultural Program, Sport Events, etc… Apart from this, the organization also aims to help the society by doing the relief work during the disaster, by conducting teaching programs for illiterate people, etc...
Plastic Engineering Student’s Association (PLESA)
About the Association
The department had established Plastic Engineering Student’s Association on 7th May 2002. It has been established for the welfare and development of the students of Plastic Engineering Department. The association is committed to encourage the students by involving them in various activities, carried out within the department. It encourages students to show their creativity and make them an engineer with courage and confidence.
Activities of the Society :
- Expert Lectures Arranged
• “Positive Effect of Music Sound Waves with Brain Waves” delivered by Dr. Haris R. Geoshom (M. Sc., Ph. D.) Lecturer in Chemistry, Vallabh Vidhyanagar Polytechnic, V.V.Nagar. He has been given membership number in guiness Book of world Record.
• “Vedic Ganit” delivered by Mr. Manishbahi Soni from Baroda.
- Tours Organized
• One-day study tour at VELEVADAR NATIONAL PARK, 140 kms away from Ahmedabad, near Bhavnagar. It is well known place for Black Bucks.
• One-day study tour at Polo forest (Banaskantha District) on 12/12/2004. Twenty one students of Plastic Engineering had participated in this event.
- Paper Presentation Competition
Plastic Engineering Student Association organized a State Level Paper Presentation on “Innovation/Development in Plastic Engineering” on 16/7/05. Society publishes “PLASTICOS”- News letter regularly. Four volumes have been published so far.
Computer Engineering Students Association (CESA)
The Objectives of establishing CESA are :
- To synchronize between academic learning and recent development in Industry.
- To provide opportunity for all round development of students. This association is run by the students and for the students to achieve the above objectives. The faculty advisors are appointed by the department to advise students regarding the various activities conducted by CESA. This helps students to learn the managerial skills also.
Activities of the Associations :
CESA, a student body is organising various activities looking to their aims and objectives. Initially it was started with two activity (a) Expert lectures and (b) Competitive games and then subsequently the activities went on increasing.
- GK Quiz contest - This college level quiz competition is one of the most successful events organized by CESA on 31st March-2005. All the disciplines of an institute of diploma studies participate in this event and the response & interest of the students is tremendous.
Student Association of Information Technology (SAIT)
The Objectives of establishing SAIT are :
- To synchronize between academic learning and recent development in Industry.
- To provide opportunity for all round development of students. This association is run by the students and for the students to achieve the above objectives. Activities carried out under SAIT(Student Association of Information Technology) :
- An industrial tour to Bangalore was organized on 17th Nov.2004 for nine days.
- An expert lecture on ERP Solutions was arranged under SAIT on 13th Dec.2004 Lecture was given by Mr. Alok Purohit from Jaipur.
- A Quiz was organized on Mental ability and Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
- A nature study tour organized to POLO FOREST.
- An expert lecture arranged on 4th Nov. 2004 on the topic “Basics of Number System and Microprocessors”
- “CHIP” Magazine has been subscribed for one year for the knowledge up gradation of students.
League of Electrical Engineering Students (LEES)
LEES (League of Electrical Engineering Students) was inaugurated on Saturday, 18 Feb 2006 by Shri Suresh Rajagopalan, Sr. Manager, "Anagram Stock Broking Ltd.", Ahmedabad.
Objectives of the Society
- To establish and maintain contact among the present students and faculties of department.
- To pursue and sustain excellence in technical and non-technical skills by interaction between the faculty and student.
- To extend all assistance and co-operation to the institute in its endeavors for satisfying the mission of producing a complete engineer and a worthy citizen.
- To provide a common platform for exchange of ideas and disseminating knowledge in professional areas.
- To encourage and assist the students in various academic and cultural activities.
Eco Club
Our institute emphasizes on co curricular and extra curricular activities in addition to curricular activities to ensure overall development of the students.
As a part of co curricular activities, Institute of Diploma Studies Eco Club is actively functioning to spread environmental awareness among the needy community. With this objective, various activities like tree plantation, street play competition, educational visits, nature camps, screening of films etc. are actively organized.
Electronics and Communication Engineering Association of Students (ECON)
The objectives of the organization are as under :
- To establish and maintain contact among the students and faculty of department.
- To pursue and sustain excellence in technical and non-technical skills by interacting between the faculty and students of IDS.
- To strengthen Industry- Institute Interaction and operate related activities.
- To establish students department library for the benefit of the students.
- To extend all assistance and cooperation to the Institute in its endeavor for satisfying the mission of producing a complete engineer and a worthy citizen.
Activities :
- Quiz competition was organized in the year 2003.
- Expert Lecture Series was organized for three days on the subject “Basics of Mobile Communication” in the academic year 2003-04.
- “RANGOLI COMPETITION” was organized on 4th November, 2004.
- Institute level “Public speaking contest” was organized on 30th October, 2004.
- Institute level “POSTER MAKING COMPETITION” was held on 4th March, 2006.
- “ECON CUP” Cricket Tournament was organized during 24th February to 10th March, 2006.
- Visit to HI-REL Electronics, GIDC Gandhinagar, Apollo Hospital, Gandhinagar, & Amtech Electronics, Gandhinagar was arranged.
- ECON Newsletter-“COMMUNIQUE” is published regularly.
