The Department was established in the year 1997 with an objective that Plastic Industry has tremendous growth due to widening of its application spectrum and penetration of new generation polymers in all the key sectors of Indian economy.

We believe in the overall development of our students. It aims at producing not only good Engineers but worthy citizens of a great country there by contributing in overall progress of students. Working in isolation without involving industries, we may not be able to achieve the goals. So we are giving weightage to Industrial Training of 20 weeks in our curriculum. At the same time, Industrial visits are also arranged to different industries every year. Such visits are helpful to students to understand actual industrial practices and operations.

Consultancy & Testing
The Plastics Testing Laboratory of this Department is well equipped with all modern plastics testing facilities. These facilities can be utilized effectively to improve the standard and quality of plastics materials / products. The Department offers useful services to the plastic processing industries by testing of raw materials and finished products like pipes, containers, films, and composites at reasonable rates.

	Identification & characterization of plastics and composites.
	Testing can be carried out as per the ASTM & ISI standards.
	Design and development of testing equipments as per the testing requirements.
	Research and Development of the projects and special assignments from industries and other organizations.
	Development in product application.
	Consultancy for trouble-shooting in Plastic Processing.
	Job work on processing machines.
