As part of the celebration of World Environment Day 2019, Nirma University participated in the Swachh Sabarmati Maha Abhiyan organised by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on June 5, 2019 from Dadhichi Bridge to Subhash bridge under Sabarmati river. PhD students of Institute of Pharmacy, Rotaract Club of Nirma Institutes, NSS unit and staff members of Nirma University participated in this campaign. The main purpose of this Sanitation campaign was to clear the plastic bags, plastic bottles and other food waste from the Sabarmati river.

Nirma University signed an MoU with Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar (CSMCRI) - a unit of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on May 24, 2019. CSIR - CSMCRI, and Nirma University, will work closely in terms of research and academic activities. The Faculty and Scientists will work towards joint research projects, upon mutual agreement using leading research facilities developed at CSIR - CSMCRI and Nirma University. They will design and develop outreach activities and programmes for various mutually identified goals. On this occasion, Dr Anup K Singh, Director General, Nirma University, Ahmedabad; and Dr Amitava Das, Director, CSIR –CSMCRI, Bhavnagar shared their vision to reach out to the less privileged sections of society.

CSIR-AMPRI, and Nirma University, will work closely in terms of research and academic activities. The Faculty/Scientists / Technical staffs / researchers will work towards joint research projects, upon mutual agreement using leading research facilities developed/ to be developed at CSIR - AMPRI and Nirma University. Seminars/Symposiums/Conferences/Workshops shall be organised jointly. The two institutes will also develop collaborative research programmes for funding by internal, national and international agencies. They will design and develop outreach activities and programmes for various mutually identified goals of CSIR-AMPRI and Nirma University.

Nirma University has partnered with Automaker, Tata Motors on April 29, 2019 to provide BTech degree to the employees working at the Sanand Plant in Gujarat. The programme aims at enhancing employees’ technical skills at multiple levels in the organisation, thus bridging skill gaps that prevail in the automotive industry and creating a future-ready organisation. Employees, enrolled for the BTech programme will undergo comprehensive training that is designed in two parts – technical orientation delivered through classroom sessions, virtual labs and on-the-job training in engineering, manufacturing and customer support facilities in Tata Motors.

It is a mutually beneficial initiative, which will result in a rich exchange of knowledge and the latest industry practices.

Twenty Seventh Convocation of the Nirma University  will be held on April 20, 2019 from 6.30 pm onwards.

Chief Guest: Hon’ble Shri Justice Dipak Misra, Former Chief Justice of India

During the Convocation, the degrees shall be conferred to the students of Institute of Management, Institute of Law and Institute of Technology, in addition to Ph.D students of the University. The degrees shall be conferred by Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel, President of the Nirma University.
