The Institute of Technology, Nirma University has received a research grant of Rupees One Crore by Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India under the scheme 'Vishvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT' . The research grant has been received for five full time and five part time PhD Candidates. The grant amounts to One Crore Rupees and will be applicable from the academic year 2015-16. The Institute is the only private institution which has been granted the research scholarship in the state and among one of the very few in the country.

The Nineteenth Convocation of Nirma University was celebrated on April 25, 2015 in which 478 students were conferred upon various degrees. Hon’ble Justice Mr. A. M. Ahmadi, Former Chief Justice of India, graced the convocation as the Chief Guest. The function was presided over by Dr. Karsanbhai K Patel, President, Nirma University.

The convocation began with welcome address by Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel, the President of the University, who also conferred degrees to the pass-out students. Dr. Patel commented that, Nirma University has set up new benchmark in the way the education system works and it has educated the students so that they can take up the challenges of the new age and grow up to their potential.

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Justice Mr. Ahmadi presented Scholastic Awards to the toppers of various disciplines and delivered the convocation address. In his address he asked the young graduates, especially law students, to abide by the duty even at the peril of being at the end of an unpleasant experience. He also talked about the rule of law which governs us and the role of the Supreme Court. Hon'ble Justice Mr. Ahmadi further stated that, "Management diluted with law is an interesting combination. Proper management skills help in streaming the number of law cases properly."

The function ended with concluding address by the Dr Anup K. Singh, the Director General of the University.
Twelve students from Ph. D, 177 students from MBA – Full Time, 80 students from MBA – Family Business & Entrepreneurship, 7 students from MBA – Part Time, 1 student from LL.M. in Legal Pedagogy & Research, 101 students from B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and 100 students from B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) were awarded degree for successful completion of their academic courses. Several awards were also given to deserving students as a token of appreciation of their hard work while achieving their goal. Total 19 medals were given to students for securing first,second and third rank in their respective courses.
