Idea 1 : Third-eye

Gunjan Gupta, Romil Shah and Sagar Patel, under the guidance of Prof. Sachin Gajjar, Associate Professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering developed a 332 gm device, The Third Eye: Tellmate at the University’s Idea Lab. The device consists of a webcam, headphone and microprocessor that uses audio and video communications to help blind navigate their way. The prototype was successfully tested in the laboratory.
The team then thought of converting the device in the form of a stick by further minimizing the hardware. This concept was submitted to “The Innovate for Digital India Challenge”, an initiative by the Government of India in association with Intel. Nirma team has reached in Top 20 out of 1913 applicants and won INR 2 lakh as grant for making minimum viable product with help of Intel Architecture and technological support. The Nirma team will undergo an accelerator program of 6 months for developing The “Third Eye – Tellmate” as a commercially-viable product. The team will also undergo a three month Residential Incubation at “Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship”, Pune. On successful completion of incubation programme the team will enter the go to market phase and will receive development grant of INR 5,00,00.
