Fire Mock Drill was arranged on the day of NIRMAN 2018 as one part of the event.

This drill was demonstrated by Shri. Hitu Gadhavi, Incharge of Prahlad Nagar Fire Station, AMC Fire Dept. and his team. In this drill they have demonstrated the use of different hydraulic machines which are used in emergency and also during disasters. After that they have carried out a fire drill, which was the main attraction of this drill. The purpose of performing this drills is to create well-rehearsed knowledge of the procedure regarding emergency and also what to do during a fire emergency. 

In this drill B.Tech Civil Engineering students and faculty members have participated and acquired the knowledge related to the fire emergency.

To bring global expertise locally, Nirma University is actively collaborating with quality international universities. One such collaboration is between the Nirma University and Binghamton University. It is bringing benefit to both the universities. Under faculty exchange activity Prof Sang Won Yoon from Binghamton University, New York, USA visited Nirma University campus during October 08-12, 2018.

An expert in Big Data Analytics, Prof. Yoon works as an Associate Professor at Binghamton University. His area of interest includes integrated production and service systems, healthcare systems engineering, system optimization, production control systems, large-scale data mining. He is working on several industries funded multidisciplinary projects. He did his PhD from Purdue University and MS from Korea University.

Data Analytics is one of the fastest upcoming areas in computer engineering and to add the global perspective was the objective of his visit. The course is part of an elective course for the Semester VII students. This initiative provided students with the opportunity to experience international teaching methodology and gave an insight into different case studies derived from his diverse projects done.

October 13 is celebrated by the UN as International Day for Disaster Reduction. Institute of Technology, Civil Engineering Dept. has also organized a programme on Disaster Management on Oct 12, 2018.

During the event apart from many tasks and exhibits related to disaster preparedness, expert talks were also organized. Deputy Commandant, Himanshu Badola from NDRF team Bt. No.6, Gandhinagar talked about various aspects of Disaster Management and the role of NDRF during disasters in India as well as abroad.

NDRF team members have also shown different activities, including a demo of rescue operations, evacuation methods during the time of fire and earthquake disasters.

A mock exercise, rope rescue drill and exhibition on Disaster management were also arranged by NDRF Team for B.Tech Civil Engineering students. In this programme, more than 450 students and 25 faculty members have actively participated during the event.

Worldwide, on Oct. 13, when the UN celebrates International Day for Disaster Reduction, we at Institute of Technology, Civil Engineering Dept. have organized a programme on Disaster Management in which expert lecture was delivered by Deputy Commandant, Hemanshu Badola from NDRF team Bt. No.6, Gandhinagar. A mock exercise, rope rescue drill and exhibition on Disaster management was also arranged by NDRF Team for B.Tech Civil Engineering students (3rd, 5th & 7th sem) on 12th October, 2018.


Schedule of Programme:-

1. Expert Lecture at C-Audi ( 9:15 to 10:00 am ) - 5th & 7th sem students

2. Mock Exercise at C-Audi (10:00 to 11:00 am ) - 5th & 7th sem students

3. Rope rescue drill at B-Block inside lawn (11:00 to 11:30 am) - all civil eng. students

4. Exhibition on Disaster Management at Passage of B-Block  (11:00 to 2:00  pm) for all Students - 3rd, 5th and 7th sem.


In this programme, more than 450 students and 25 faculty members have actively participated.

Students of 5th Semester, BTech visited Kadana Hydro Electric Power Plant on 11-10-2018 and 12-10-2018 from B and A division respectively. Students got acquainted with the scale of the hydro project with visualization of power plant structure and details of types and working of hydropower plant equipment including hydraulic turbine

Mr. Abhishek Dubey(15BEE034) and Mr. Harsh Agrawal(15BEE039), B.Tech students of Electrical Engineering department, Institute of Technology, emerged as one of the winners of Vibrant Gujarat Grand Challenge 2018 in Agri-Tech theme.

The students received the certificate and cash prize of 10,000 Rs by the Dy. chief minister of Gujarat Shri Nitin Bhai Patel. The summit was held in Gandhinagar from 11 to 13 October 2018.

The organisation of Civil Engineering Students(OrCES) celebrated the foundation day of ITNU by spreading social awareness regarding health and hygiene to the rural people of the nearby areas. The awareness programme aimed to inform the people about hygiene at the workplace, and to educate the women about hygiene during mensuration. The awareness programme was concluded by the distribution of clothes amongst needy people present in the awareness programme.

It was the day to remember, cherish, recognize and reward. Institute of Technology, Nirma University celebrated its 24th Foundation Day of Insitute of Technology, Nirma University was celebrated on October 3rd, 2018. The illustrious 23 years have seen ITNU contributing to the society by giving ethical engineers and research insights. It was a day to celebrate the contribution of the faculty members and students in institution building.

Nineteen B. Tech. students were felicitated by Gold/Silver/Bronze medals. Twenty-seven faculty members, one staff member and thirty-one students were felicitated on this occasion for their achievements.

A group of 18 students from various departments attended one-week residential camp at Village Motipura during 4th -10th June 2018 under NSS activity. They were honoured for the social cause.

Team 'Mitsubishi Electric Cup' was also awarded for winning Silver cup at national level automation competition held at Nirma University. Team 'BAJA' was awarded for securing 2nd position in Sledge Pull, and overall 2nd position at SAE INDIA BAJA-18. Team E-BAJA was awarded for securing 4th position in the endurance race and overall 4th position at BAJA SAEINDIA-18.

Team ARROW was also awarded for overall 11th rank in SAE INDIA AERO DESIGN CHALLENGE 2018. Team ROBOCON was also awarded for their best performance at National level and international level.

The day was also remarkable for it was the homecoming of alumni and distribution of scholarships sponsored by them. NITAA Alumni Award was also given to the nine alumni members.

The day also social and technical events organized by various student associations.

The cultural programme was organized for faculty/staff member and they participated with zeal and enthusiasm
