He is currently working with ESSAR OIL LTD, Jamnagar in the crude scheduling department. Shreenath told, that according to him, one should initially take up a job in Operations Department, work in it for 2-3 years to gain experience and then opt for a position in Process Department so that one can use their field work experience as well as their chemical engineering knowledge. He mentioned the importance of taking part and holding a good positon in different clubs which in turn would teach us skills that are necessary and important for us. It teaches us management, how to carry out work, interaction with different people, how to get a sponsorship from a big company, etc. He also told the type of attitude one has to keep with the interviewer while in placement. One should try and answer all the questions as per ones knowledge. Also the project work which one opts for in the final semester is also of great value during placement. Finally, the basic knowledge of all the subjects is off course going to play an important role in  life.

He has worked with many companies in US and has a great deal of knowledge regarding many aspects of safety. Mr Akhilesh had a very good sense of observation which he used wisely during teaching us the essence of risk and hazard. He took notice of the surroundings and explained precisely what does the term “risk” means; in industrial as well as day to day life. The basic three categories of safety were mentioned as: Personal, Environmental and Industrial Safety. The information regarding different types of safety measurements an industry must have according the norms was explained. The basic pyramid of the ease with which safety can be introduced at the construction level and the level of difficulty rise as one proceeds towards process design and instrumentation to the flowsheets to the final plan was explained in great detail. The basic concept of inherent safety, its principles, and its applications as well its evaluation was taught. The principles of IS-Intensification, Substitution, Moderation, Limitation and Process Simplification was explained in depth. The importance of “safety” in one’s life was put forth very nicely by Mr. Akhilesh Shah.

An alumni interaction was organized for Fifth Semester B. Tech students on 13th July, 2015. Chintan Bhomia, a passed out Nirmaite, of batch 2009-2012 had come for the interaction with the students currently studying in semester 5.Chintan was taken in by the Reliance giant and has been working with them from the past two years. Talking about the placement, he told that one of the most important things the companies have in mind is the PPI of the students. The placement will be a dream only if a student is having PPI above 7. Apart from the PPI, off course, the other things to be kept in mind are mainly two, i.e. Seminar and Project, and the interpersonal skills. The companies look and ask for the knowledge a student has acquired during the seminar/project work. He says, majority of the technical questions are asked from these only and thus one should have a thorough knowledge about their project work and the technicality of the same. To deliver your thoughts about your work, our communication skills should be polished and thus he emphasised on it too. If these simple things are understood by the students “then the placement will be a piece of paper!” says Chintan. In his concluding remarks, he says it is high time now for everything and so time management is what will be required of us if we are willing to indulge in various activities while not letting our pointers down. He laid much emphasis on the core subjects like SFO, FFO, HTO, MTO, CET, etc. ”Study as much as you can, and don’t forget what you’ve already learned! ” was the last thing he said.

The project is of three year duration from July 01, 2015 to March 31, 2018. The total fund sanctioned for the project is 84500 Canadian Dollars. The project is expected to lead to applications of Geopolymer concrete, especially in the precast industry. It is envisaged that the concrete mixes developed in this project will have the adequate compressive strength, and other durability properties required for the concrete mixes to be used as a paving material in rural India and as a permeable paving material in urban Canadian environment. The potential of the developed concrete mixes for using in other infrastructure in both countries will also be explored in the project.

Dr. Urmil V Dave, Professor, Civil Engineering Department will work as the Indian principal investigator of the project. Canadian principal Investigator of the project is Dr. Rishi Gupta, University of Victoria, Canada. Industry partners from Canada and India are also associated in the project.

Community Services: A Compulsory Course taken by Students of B Tech Sem (IV-IT, Jan-May2015)

NGO: MAD (Make a Difference)

MAD , Make a difference, This NGO assigns task in two different ways:

1) Merchant of Ahmedabad

2) Old Newspaper Collection

1) Merchant of Ahmedabad

For merchant of Ahmedabad task NGO gave Rs. 200 to each team and from that amount student can start their own stall for one day and at the end of day they have to earn more profit so th;6at they can donate that money and help people.

Experience of student:

This was an 11 hour event from 9 am to 8 p.m.

Under this event they took up the role of Coffee and Maggi sellers. Students borrowed a stall from RK Maggi and Coffee stall in front of HL Commerce College with the permission of its owner and they sold Maggi and Coffee to the customers coming to our stall.

Students had a great time and learning experience. They presented the menu to the customers and took there order and then they placed them with the order. Coffee was premade fresh in the morning and hence coffee orders included the task of only pouring glasses with the beverage. While the Maggi orders had a bit of challenge.

Students first learn the unique method of preparation of Maggi they employ from the stall owner. At the end of a tiring, exciting day they were able to make a profit of 500Rs.
