Electronics & Communication

The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department was established in year 1995. The Department started with under graduate programmes in Electronics and Communication Engineering and later added Post Graduate programmes with specialization in VLSI Design, Communication Engineering, Embedded Systems and M.Tech. by Research. It also offers Ph.D. Programme.

The department has acquired expertise in the area of VLSI Design, Signal Processing, Wireless Communication and Networks, Optical Communication and Networks, Antenna and RF System Design, Image, Speech and Video processing, Testing and Verification of VLSI Design, Reconfigurable Processor Design and Embedded System Design. State-of-art laboratories have been set up in department for both Under-Graduate and Post-graduate Programmes and are well equipped with computational facilities and resources both in terms of hardware and software. The department has a blend of experienced and well qualified faculty having obtained Masters and Ph.D. degrees from premier institutes and have distinction of working with established national and international research organization.

Faculty members are actively involved in research activities and have many research publications in international & national journals and international conferences to their credit. Faculty members in the department have undertaken many funded research projects, sponsored by the Government and renowned R and D organizations. The department also offers consultancy and testing services to the industries and R&D organizations in the area of the expertise and have organized many customized training programmes for industrial professionals, officers of Indian Navy, and academic staff of technical institutions in the area of Digital Communication, Signal Processing, Embedded System design, Antenna System Design, Multimedia Signal Processing and VLSI Design.

Twice the faculty in the department have received best faculty awards from Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and an award for significant contribution in the field of RF & Antenna from The Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE). Students are encouraged to take part in various international and national project competitions like ROBOCON, Freescale Cup, Texas Instrument Contest, iCreate, SAE BAJA and have won many awards.

Program Specific Outcomes

A graduate of Electronics & Communication Engineering programme will have an ability
  1. To understand and analyse principles of electronics devices, circuits, communication systems, tools and techniques. < /li>
  2. To apply knowledge acquired in Electronics and Communication Engineering domain in design and development of electronic circuits and systems with specific end utility.
  3. To do research in Communication Engineering and Electronics System Design.
