National Colloquium on “Advancements in Seismic Design of Masonry Structures"

Department of Civil Engineering has organized a National Colloquium “Advancements in Seismic Design of Masonry Structures” on 30 – 31 January 2019. The Lectures and Hands-on sessions were conducted by Professor Daniel Abrams, Emeritus Professor, Civil Engineering Department, University of Urbana Champaign, U.S.A, and Full Bright Specialist USIEF New Delhi. Prof. K.S.Jagadish, Former Professor, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and Eminent researcher in the field of Masonry Structure. Prof Svetlana Brezev, Professor, Civil Engineering Department in the University of British Columbia and Visiting Faculty at IIT Gandhinagar. Prof. Hemant Kaushik, Professor, IIT Guwahati.

Ductile Design of Masonry Buildings, Design and Detailing of Confined Masonry, Containment Reinforcement for Earthquake Resistant Design, Flexibility and Displacement Capacity of Reinforced Brick Wall and Seismic Retrofit of Masonry Buildings, etc. were the major topics covered during this colloquium. 

The colloquium was coordinated by Prof. Sharad Purohit, Professor, Civil Engineering Department and Prof. Utsav Koshti, Assistant Professor Civil Engineering Department.
