Workshop on Preclinical Animal Models & Drug Evaluation Techniques

Drug development is the process of bringing a new drug to the market which includes pre-clinical research and clinical research. Throughout history, scientists have been solving medical problems, developing new techniques and treatments, and curing diseases all by using animals models. The pre-clinical research in the drug development process involves use of various animal models for drug screening and evaluation. This together with the toxicity studies involves major portion of the drug development. Pre-clinical animal studies are thus mandatory for any new drug to come into the market. Major medical advancements has been achieved through biomedical research using animal models to study and find a cure for a disease and through animal testing to prove the safety and efficacy of a new treatment. Various animal models are being utilized by the scientists, researchers, academicians and industry personals for drug screening and evaluation. These screening processes involves use of various surgical techniques and instruments. Major challenges in animal experimentation are development and identification of an appropriate animal model, ethical issues in animal handling, methods to standardize and validate animal model and thereby translation of the animal research to human practice.  This workshop intends to address these growing issues as part of plenary lectures in the pre-lunch session. We, at the Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University have a state of art animal house registered with CPCSEA. Hence, in this workshop practical training would be imparted for surgical models for cardiac hypertrophy, stroke etc. Molecular techniques like polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), gel electrophoresis etc. will also be demonstrated. The workshop would also provide hands-on training of instruments like biochemical auto-analyzer, invasive method of measurement of blood pressure, heart rate and hemodynamic parameters etc.

National Seminar on CTD: Technical & Regulatory Requirement

National Seminar on “CTD: Technical & Regulatory Requirement” organized by Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University and organized by Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University on 26th September, 2015.

Brochure is available on - http://www.nirmauni.ac.in/ipnu/Downloads

This National Seminar is best suited for the regulatory Professional in the pharma regulatory field. The main objective of the program on CTD filing is to provide the interface between the pharmaceutical industry and drug regulatory authorities across the world. As per global regulatory authorities, the products to be marketed must meet all the regulatory expectations with regards to quality, safety and efficacy. Its purpose is to ensure the dossier submission requirement in form of CTD which can eliminate the need to reformat the information for submission to the different ICH regulatory authorities.

Orientation Program

Orientation Program for New Entrants of M.Pharm. and M.Sc. (Cosmetic Technology) would be organized from 24th July, 2015. All first year PG students have to compulsorily attend the Orientation Program

Enigma Elevated 2015

NIPSA (Nirma Institute of Pharmacy Students' Association) organizes Enigma Elevated 2015 with various Technical and Non-technical Events for Pharma Students. For more details Refer http://mynipsa.org/

National Conference NCIP - 2015

Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University would be organizing the National level conference on the theme of "Challenges and Opportunities in Infectious Diseases" during January 2015. Visit www.ncip.in for more details. Infectious diseases are found throughout the world today. Accurate caseload numbers are difficult to determine, especially because so many of these diseases are endemic to developing countries, where many people do not have access to modern medical care. The eminent speakers would be invited from the field of infectious disease and young and budding scientist would have the opportunity to present a poster for their research work, as well as it would provide a platform to share knowledge.

Nirmaquest - 2015

Institute of Pharmacy has been regularly conducting educational programmes in diversified fields for the pharmacists. Every year since 2005, the institute has been organizing NIRMAQUEST successfully as State level and from last year as National Level co-curricular competitions for Pharmacy students. This year, Institute of Pharmacy announces NIRMAQUEST ’15, as National Level Quiz Competition. (Various Quiz Competitions for Faculty, Industry Persons, Ph.D, PG & UG students Pharma & Non-Pharma)
