The inauguration function for Executive Diploma Programme 2017-18 (19th batch) was organized on Sunday, 30th July 2017 at Institute of Management, Nirma University. Mr. Anuj Shah, General Manager - Human Resources, Intas Pharmaceuticals Limited was the Chief Guest at the inaugural event. The session was graced by Dr. Mallikarjun, Director of Institute of Management, Nirma University and Dr. Chetan A. Jhaveri, Chairperson of EDP 2017-18 batch.  During the inaugural address Mr. Shah complimented the new batch participants for choosing IMNU to begin their EDP journey.  In his address to the EDP participants, the chief guest, Mr. Anuj Shah, emphasized upon certain issues like the importance of core human values that every employee in the organisation shall nurture and necessity of Data integrity in the organization. Dr. M. Mallikarjun shared the vision of the Institution with respect to the EDP program and the expectations from the participants during a programme of one year.
Institute of Management, Nirma University launched Executive Diploma Programmes in the year 1999. EDP programmes is designed to fulfil the needs of the working executives, managers and entrepreneurs. These programmes are conducted only on Sundays to provide an opportunity of formal learning to the working executives with a convenient time schedule for studies. This year, the EDPs are offered in area of Marketing Management and Operations Management specializations.

On July 17, 2017, the Institute of Management, Nirma University, welcomed its new batch of BBA-MBA Five Year Integrated Program for the academic year 2017-2022. The orientation program started with a formal inaugural session was organized for the students who were accompanied by their proud, yet anxious parents. The institute had received applications from students all over India and the students of newly joining batch were those who made it to the final list after rounds of rigorous testing and personal interviews.
The session was graced by Ms. Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, Government of Gujarat, Dr. Mallikarjun, Director of Institute of Management, Nirma University and Dr. Sapna Parashar, Chairperson of BBA-MBA Integrated Program 2017-22 batch.

Ms. Anju Sharma, who is also the Director General of Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM), talked about the importance of entering a university at this early stage. According to her, being a part of university at an early stage helps student get an opportunity to learn various other disciplines. She also advised the students to make full use of being a part of university by not confining to one particular discipline. She also emphasized on the importance of management education. The Media Committee of IMNU interviewed the parents to know about their experience related to the entire admission process. Parents were equally excited for a new beginning in their child's professional development. Dr. Sapna Parashar delivered the vote of thanks and assured a great learning experience for the students.

BBA-MBA Admission Announcement 2017

Institute of Management invites applications for Admission to its Batch of BBA-MBA (Five Year Integrated Programme (2017-22) from candidates appearing for UGAT - 2017.

The candidates applying admissions  under All India Category and NRI Sponsored category are required to apply and appear for the admission test UGAT (Under Graduate Aptitude Test) to be conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) on May 13, 2017 at various centers of India.

Ahmedabad, January 10, 2017:
India is poised to reduce 10% of energy imports by 2022, Shri. B. Ashok, Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. said today at the 21st Institute Public Lecture held at the Institute of Management, Nirma University.  
In his interaction with students on the “Hydrocarbon Value Chain Scenario”, Shri Ashok reiterated Prime Minister’s vision that energy is a strategic requirement and the Gujarat Model has been at the forefront in showing the way for the sector, balancing well on four key pillars of access or availability, energy security, energy efficiency and affordability. Primary was to reduce import dependency in oil and gas and boost self sufficiency.
“Gujarat is unique in terms of the energy consumption basket. Gujarat model is being replicated across the country. Energy is going through a lot of transition. The industry is bifurcated into upstream, mid stream and downstream. Typically, around the world, 25% of the energy portfolio is led by gas. In India, the average is only 6.5%. But Gujarat is at par with the world at about 25%. Our overall energy production is substantial, but still is only 20% of all our energy requirements. Almost 80% is import driven. A lot of policy reforms have been done by the central government. Recently, bids have been invited for 67 marginal oil fields,” he said in his speech addressing students of Nirma University.

The 21st Institute Public Lecture was graced by top officials and faculty members of Nirma University. Present on the dais today were Dr. Anup K. Singh, Director General, Nirma University, Dr. M. Mallikarjun, Director, Institute of Management, Nirma University, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Jain, Executive Director (Gujarat State Office), Indian Oil and Dr. Nityesh Bhatt, Professor, Information and Management Area, Chairperson-MDPs, Institute of Management, Nirma University.
According to him, India is at an important juncture in history and precision driven decision making is giving the country an edge over the rest of the world. The country is also transitioning into a gas-based economy.
The biggest challenge is to keep up to the pace of energy demands in the country. Oil industry is working hard to ensure infrastructure is in place to meet the growing demands and IOC is proactive in investing in projects much before the demand crops up and is able to keep pace with the growth in the industry.
Environment, according to Shri Ashok has emerged as a factor to watch out for and key research and development activities were directed towards making fossil fuels clean, processing crude and reducing the sulphur content. Likewise, led by Prime Minister Modi, India is ready to adopt BS-IV emission norms by April 1, 2017 and leapfrog into BS-VI within 2020 to bolster efforts.
In tandem with the demonetization drive initiated since November 8, Shri Ashok stated that the oil major has seen close to 30% of its overall sales in the cashless segment. The company is also incentivizing consumers for cashless transactions.
“One of the things we are doing is to ensure that the cashless mode is available as a facility in all our networks. The priority is expanding that network, where there are POS machines and wallet facilities. In Gujarat, we are happy to say that we can accept one or the other forms of cashless transactions in IOC network,” he said.

NICOM 2017: “Contemporary Marketing: Concept, Practice & Method”

The 20th Nirma International Conference on Management (NICOM) was organized by Institute of Management, Nirma University during January 5th to 7th, 2017. Its central theme was “Contemporary Marketing: Concept, Practice & Method” which had number of marketing sub-themes. In total, 195 abstracts and 120 full papers were received. The papers were received from India and abroad, mainly from the countries like Rwanda and Bangladesh. The papers were sent for two rounds of blind review and thereafter, based on the feedback, selected papers were published in two books as Conference Proceedings with ISBN number by Excel India Publications, New Delhi. The Conference had total registrations of 128 delegates. In total 138 papers were presented by the participants in 30 track sessions organised over the period of three days. In addition to the inauguration and valedictory sessions, there were three plenary sessions delivered by reputed national speakers.
The conference was inaugurated on January 5, 2017. The chief guest of the inaugural session Mr. M.G. Parmeswaran, Brand Strategist, Founder at Brand-Building.com and former CEO, FCB Ulka threw light on the role that emotional advertisements play in attracting consumers and discussed the changes that need to be brought forth in social and digital marketing under the ambit of contemporary marketing. The Guest of Honour for the occasion, Mr. Tarun Arora, COO and Director, Zydus Wellness Limited further emphasized upon the fact that consumers have become more expressive and demanding than ever before and thus consumers are no longer mere recipients but are also involved along with the marketer in brand creation and thus special emphasis on data analytics must be applied to successfully reach the target segment. The inaugural function was also graced by Padma Shri Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel, President, Nirma University.
