6th National Students conference on International Humanitarian and Refugee Laws

The Centre for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law, Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) is organising the sixth edition of its annual flagship event - National Students conference on “International Humanitarian and Refugee Laws” in association with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on 16th March, 2017. The conference is aimed to address contemporary issues and challenges faced the scholars, academicians and practitioners in the field of International Humanitarian and Refugee Laws. The conference would showcase a platform for interaction of minds from eminent personalities, students, organizations and every stakeholder having interest in the field.

Mediation Training Workshop II

Institute of Law, Nirma University is going to organize a two days Mediation Training Workshop for the students of VIIIth Semester students as a part of ADR Clinical Paper during March 3-4, 2017. Mr. Niranjan Bhatt (Senior Mediator and Master Trainer, Supreme Court Committee on Mediation) and Ms. Veena Ralli (Organising secretary, Delhi High Court Mediation Centre) is going to conduct this Workshop in collaboration with Institute of Law. The emphasis of the Workshop would be on practical exercises by way of role play, simulation exercises wherein students would take up practical problem and will act as Mediator and clients to resolve disputes related to various areas. 

This event is being co-ordinated by Mr. Rohit Moonka, Course Co-ordinator, ADR & Co-ordinator, Mediation Training Workshop.

Sixth International and Tenth Biennial Conference of the Indian Society of Victimology (ISV), 2017

Sixth International and Tenth Biennial Conference of The Indian Society of Victimology, is going to be organized by Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat  in collaboration Indian Society of Victimology from February 23-25, 2017 on the broad theme “Ensuring Victim participation in Criminal Justice System” , with the aim of encouraging research in bringing out the synergy involved in the collaboration between multiple disciplines of Victimology.

Motivated by the stupendous success of Fourth International and Eighth Biennial Conference of the Indian Society of Victimology organized by Madras University, the niche of 2017 conference is synthesis, more than analysis.

The Conference aims to provide an international platform for scholars across multiple social science disciplines to come together, and share their research on victim rights, services for victims and other victimological research.

The Conference will provide an opportunity to interact with academics, researchers, law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, judges and policymakers from around the world.

The plenary sessions of the conference will include lectures by notable experts in the field. The conference will also provide an opportunity for young and senior scholars alike to network, share knowledge and keep track of the current trends and concerns in victimological research.

Workshop on "Image Management, Attitude Building & Business Etiquette"

It is our pleasure that we are conducting a Training and Development Workshop on "Image Management, Attitude Building & Business Etiquette" on February 20, 21 & 23 2017. The sole purpose of the Institute to conduct such workshop is that you all students can benefit and develop towards your career goals. So it is required that wholehearted participation and presence is seen from the students in attending the workshop.

The workshop will have sessions on Image Cycle, Elements of Positive First Impression, Attitude Building, Body Language, Personal Grooming, Business Etiquette, Self Introduction to People, Body Posture and its advantage, etc. All the students are required to attend the workshop as per schedule

7th National Moot Court Competition

It gives us immense pleasure to announce that the annual flagship event of Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad is all set to repeat its success story, this time bigger and better.

It is a matter of immense pride for us that the 7th Institute of Law Nirma University National Moot Court Competition, 2017 is going to be conducted in association with the Chambers of Mr. K.T.S. Tulsi, Sr. Advocate, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

This prestigious moot court competition is a benchmark in India’s mooting circuit and is highly known for its impeccable judging by experienced legal stalwarts. This year, the ILNU moot presents a challenging proposition based on critical areas of Criminal Law and other allied issues.

The moot seeks to preserve and further the sacred memories of Shri Gursharan Singh Tulsi, revered father of Shri K.T.S. Tulsi, Sr. Advocate, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, who had a formidable reputation for excellence and integrity throughout his life. He was a firm believer in fair trial and justice. This competition also seeks to be a trendsetter in the field of criminal law moot court competitions, because we, at Institute of Law, Nirma University, believe in being nothing but the best.

ILNU Model United Nation Conference 2017

We feel privileged to invite you to the 3rd Edition of the Institute of Law Nirma University Model United Nations Conference 2017.

The 3rd Edition of the Institute of Law Nirma University Model United Nations Conference is taking place on 27th-29th January, 2017 at the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and is aimed towards providing a memorable experience to all the participating delegates, as they will be acquainted with the real essence of diplomacy, international relations and the true simulation of the United Nations.

In our country, Model UN conferences have become very prevalent, giving the participating delegates a chance to try their hands at a certain form of debating. But at ILNU Model United Nations Conference, we aim towards the formulation of a humane world. We provide a chance to every participant to act as a Diplomat/Representative of a Sovereign Member Nation. We give them a platform wherein they can experience the most authentic simulation of the United Nations. Patent Litigation Course

A Three days workshop on 'Patent Litigation' is being organised during 26-28 January, 2017 as a part of the IPR Hon's paper of IP Litigation. To give the final year students practitioners insight specially from the industry this Workshop has been organised.

d. Converting Internship into PPO: (i) How to apply for internship; (ii) when to apply for internship, (iii) do’s and don'ts during an internship; (iv) how to submit a research work, etc.

e. Open Session: Open session where students can ask questions on corporate jobs, litigation, LL.M. and other career paths.

Scintilla' 17

The Objective- This proposai is for Scintilla Prograrune of Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmadabad (Gujarat) where the students from our institute will be invited to display their extra-curricular talents and participate and compete not just in various cultural activities like singing, dancing, miming, drama, but will also show their talent in a one day fate/fair prografiune which will invite the students of our institute to put stalls of games and food. This new concept have been introduced in this proposal which is novel and interesting. The objective of this Fest is to encourage students' hidden talents and groom it, and provide them a required and suitable platform so that they can exhibit different faces of their personality. It is believed that such acts positively affects their acadiemic performances and shape their personalities and in the modern day educational system, personality development is understood as an essential part of academic development of students. To facilitate this cause, ILNU should organise each year a two day fest.

9th Annual Public Lecture on “Access to Justice: Distant Reality” by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dr. S. Muralidhar

As part of the Annual Public Lecture Series, the Institute organizing its Ninth Public lecture on January 7, 2017. Hon'ble Mr. Justice Dr. S. Muralidhar, Judge High Court of Delhi has kindly consented to deliver the public lecture.  Dr. Anup K. Singh, The Director General, Nirma University will preside over the function. The public lecture is schedule at 11AM on January 7, 2016 in the Auditorium C Block, Nirma University campus.

Talk and Discourse on Death Penalty in India

The Center for Law and Justice, Institute of Law, Nirma University, invites all students and faculty for participation in Talk and Discourse regarding The Death Penalty in India, to be held on 5th January, 2017, at 02:15 pm, in our Seminar Hall.

The speaker panel comprise of Miss Lubhiyathi Rangarajan and Mr. Himanshu Agarwal, from the Centre on The Death Penalty, National Law University, Delhi. Both Speakers contributed with their empirical research over the above mentioned topic, working under The Centre on the Death Penalty, NLU Delhi, which published The Death Penalty India Report in May 2016, facilitating access to justice through proficient legal aid.

There shall be a wholesome discussion on the mentioned theme and hence, I would request all students to pre-read the files attached, for better clarity on the subject matter. Since this is a contemporary issue and has been much debated upon in recent times, I believe there will be a lot to take home from this discussion.
