A two days workshop on “Simulations of Wireless Communication Systems using OCTAVE” was organized on January 19-20, 2019. The workshop was convened at our institute under the auspices of CCE, Nirma University (NU) and conducted by Dr. Y. N. Trivedi, Professor in EC, IT-NU.  The objectives were to understand various wireless communication systems in the presence of wireless fading channels and to develop a unified structure of simulation codes for getting BER performance for different wireless systems. The workshop provided detailed introduction of simulations for wireless communication systems. Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of various wireless systems such as Single Input Single Output (SISO), Single Input Multiple Output (SIMO), Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems were considered with simulations using open source software OCTAVE. Different techniques such as transmit beam forming, space time coding, combining techniques, spatial multiplexing and spectrum sensing were be used in the systems. The participants consisted of teachers, researchers and students. The interested participants were from various institutes such as Indus University (Ahmedabad), M S University (Baroda), Silver Oak college of Engineering, Ganpat University (Mehsana) and PDPU (Gandhinagar).
