GATE 2021 training program will be commencing at our Institute from 23rd February 2019. 

Major features of the program as are under.

1) Registration fees for the program is Rs. 35,000/- (Inclusive of  GST) per candidate.

2) The lectures will be conducted at our Campus. So, that students can take training without disturbing the academic schedule of our Institute.

A two days workshop on “Simulations of Wireless Communication Systems using OCTAVE” was organized on January 19-20, 2019. The workshop was convened at our institute under the auspices of CCE, Nirma University (NU) and conducted by Dr. Y. N. Trivedi, Professor in EC, IT-NU.  The objectives were to understand various wireless communication systems in the presence of wireless fading channels and to develop a unified structure of simulation codes for getting BER performance for different wireless systems. The workshop provided detailed introduction of simulations for wireless communication systems. Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of various wireless systems such as Single Input Single Output (SISO), Single Input Multiple Output (SIMO), Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems were considered with simulations using open source software OCTAVE. Different techniques such as transmit beam forming, space time coding, combining techniques, spatial multiplexing and spectrum sensing were be used in the systems. The participants consisted of teachers, researchers and students. The interested participants were from various institutes such as Indus University (Ahmedabad), M S University (Baroda), Silver Oak college of Engineering, Ganpat University (Mehsana) and PDPU (Gandhinagar).

A two day workshop on Photography was held on December 24th and 25th at Institute of Architecture and Planning as part of the Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University. Twenty eight participants (students) representing various institutions from across India participated in the workshop. The participants acquired skills and techniques required in the field of photography. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Pratima Singh, from Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University.  The workshop was appreciated by the participants Glimpses of the workshop are presented in the images.

Institute of Management, Nirma University (IMNU) organized a two days Management Development Program (MDP) on Leadership Style & Skillsunder Center of Continuing Education, Nirma University on December 20-21, 2018, for industry professionals. Prof. Harismita Trivedi, Sr. Associate Professor was the programme leader.

Ten (07) participants from three organisations, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd, The Kalupur Commercial Co. Op. Bank Ltd., Gujarat State Petronet Ltd. attended the programme.

A two days program on “Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt” jointly organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, Institute of Technology and Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University, Ahmedabad was organized for B. Tech. (Mechanical), Sem. VIII and Sem. VI students on 5th & 6th January 2019 (Saturday & Sunday).

Thirty-eight (38) students had participated in the program. The program designed with interactive sessions (15 Hours) to cover various theoretical aspects of Lean Six Sigma Methodology. The various aspects covered were lean philosophy, six sigma methodology, evolution of lean six sigma methodology, tools and techniques used during different phases of lean six sigma methodology, etc. Three rounds of Lean Six Sigma exercises (in two group), called Simulations were performed. The simulations were on advertisement firm to assign and execute orders. Students prepared the various charts like histogram, run charts, pareto chart, sigma calculation chart, profit and loss chart, etc. and had a feel of improvements using Lean Six Sigma.

A program titled "solid modeling using CAD software" was organized under Center for Continuing Education, Nirma University.The purpose behind the program was to provide training of CAD modeling to Mechanical Engineering students which has become a key skill required in Mechanical industries now a days. Total 16 undergraduate students participated in the program. The program sessions were delivered by faculties having expertise in the field.The program was coordinated by Dr.Jatin Dave and Prof.Rudresh Makwana.

A workshop for the UG, PG and Ph.D. students of Pharmacy, chemical engineering and science background, titled “Hands on Training for Sophisticated Instruments" was conducted by Pharmaceutical Analysis Department, Institute of Pharmacy under Center of Continuing Education Nirma University. This Training Programme was intended to provide basic understanding, operation and hands on training of sophisticated instruments like High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC) and Gas Chromatograph (GC), High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FT-IR) and Spectrofluorimeter. The workshop got very good response and total 38 participants attended the workshop, though the maximum limit of participants was restricted up to 30. The sessions were conducted by our internal faculty (Prof. Priti Mehta & Dr. Charmy Kothari) and hands on training was given by research scholars of Pharmaceutical Analysis Department, Institute of Pharmacy. Dr. Charmy Kothari and Dr. Nrupesh Patel was the Coordinator for the Program.

Institute of Management, Nirma University (IMNU) organized a two days Management Development Program (MDP) on Data Analytics and Business Modelling Using MS Excel” under Center of Continuing Education, Nirma University on December 01-02, 2018, for industry professionals. Prof. Chetan Jhaveri, Assistant Professor was the programme leader.

Ten (10) participants from Seven organisations, SKAPS Industries (I) Pvt. Ltd., Revitas Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Adani Power Ltd., Mundra, Ultra Tech Cement Ltd., Navkar Hybrid Seeds Pvt. Ltd., OTTO BOCK, and CARE RATINGS LIMITED attended the programme.

Understanding criminal psychology and its application in criminal justice administration has become a significant factor for consideration. The research in science is constantly advancing and so is the change in studies related to psychology. Preventive techniques of crime and criminal behaviour are an ever-evolving tools in the police and law order enforcement. Undoubtedly, Criminal Psychology emerged as an unquestionable area in the administration of justice especially in the fields of police, juvenile, correctional, and prison administration. The professionals in this field have made significant advances with scholarly research and practice in their professional pursuits of Criminal Psychology and Criminal Justice Administration.

Towards advancing this knowledge domain, the National Workshop on Forensic Psychology was organized at Smart Classroom at Institute of Law, Nirma University on 20th October 2018 with overwhelming response from the participants from all across India. The number of external participants was more than the number of internal participants. The diversified domain knowledge of the expert speakers from areas like Forensic Psychology, Medical Science, Police, Judicial, and Criminal Justice added value to the workshop. The workshop was organized by the Centre for Criminal Law and Justice in association with Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and coordinated by Dr. Shamiulla, Assistant Professor, Institute of Law, Nirma University. Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Director and Dean, acknowledged and welcomed the expert speakers, gave a brief introduction of the theme of the workshop and her welcome address marked at the heart of the workshop. The expert speakers for the workshop were Dr. Jyotsna Yagnik Former Principal Judge, Arbitrator, Trainer in Law & Director, Yagnik Law Academy, Dr. Ajay Chauhan, Superintendent of Government Hospital for Mental Health and State Nodal Officer for Mental Health, Gujarat, Dr. Asha Srivastava, Principal Scientific Officer, CFSL, CBI, New Delhi, Prof. (Dr.) S. L. Vaya, Retired Addl. Director, Directorate of Forensic Science, Gujarat, Mr. K.V. Ravi Kumar Director, Institute of Security Sciences and Management, Raksha Shakti University, Gujarat. At the end of the workshop, Dr. Shamiulla gave vote of thanks to all the speakers and everyone who has been part of organizing the workshop, the student team of ILNU including the participants from all across the India.

Centre for Corporate law Studies, Institute of law organised in Collaboration with Centre for Continuous Education “Advanced Certificate in International Business Taxation Law” scheduled on 15st September to 20th October 2018 (5 Weekends). The course was conducted with an objective to provide orientation with the basic concepts of international business taxation law, covering income tax and transfer pricing, BEPS and MLI India Position which affect the corporate entities in India. This course is designed to provide participants with the essentials of international taxation law.

A workshop for the Faculty, UG students, and industry person on the “Interactive application using Python" was conducted by Instrumentation and Control Engineering Department, Institute of technology, Nirma University under Center of Continuing Education Nirma University.

The main objective of the workshop is to learn the basics of building simple interacting applications like how to develop basic graphical games using python programming language and to learn contents which are graphical and can respond to buttons, the keyboard and the mouse, which is conducted with hands on practice. Students have learnt a new browser-based programming environment that makes developing interactive applications in simple python code. Hardware demonstration using real time python interfacing application is conducted.  The workshop got very good response and total 10 participants attended the workshop, out which one participant came from outside college. These all sessions were conducted by internal faculty (Prof. Vishal M. Vaidya) who is also the main coordinator of this workshop

Hands on training on formulation development and characterization of nano drug delivery systems was organized on 29th September 2018 by Department of Pharmaceutics, Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University under the edges of Centre for Continue education. The program was inaugurated with gracious presence of Dr. P G. Shrotriya, CEO, Elite Consultancy Services as chief guest followed by his key note address. Dr. Manju Mishra, Faculty, NIPER, Ahmedabad and Dr. Tejal Mehta, Professor and Head, delivered expert talk. The Poster competition was also organized followed by demonstration of various equipment like high speed homogenizer, high pressure homogenizer and particle size analyzer. Around 75 students attended the event and has knowledge gaining experience. Dr Tejal Mehta, Dr. Shital Butani and Dr. Jigar Shah were the coordinators of the event.

The training program for the Faculty, students and research scholars on the "Testing and Verification of VLSI Design" was conducted by Electronics & Communication Engineering Department, Institute of Technology under Center of Continuing Education, Nirma University.

The main objective of the program is to provide basic fundamentals of different testing and verification methods along with their hands on practice and advances. Functional Verification, ATPG, DFT, BIST and memory testing will be discussed in length with their advance approaches.

The training program got very over whelming response and total 65 participants attended the training program including faculty, students and research scholar. The theory and lab sessions were conducted by our internal faculty Dr Usha Mehta and Dr Vaishali Dhare.

Department of Pharmacognosy, Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University has organized on day workshop on “Neuropharmacological Evaluation of Drugs: Application of Stereotaxic Surgery and Behavioral Assessment” held on 31st August, 2018 (Friday). Dr. Vinod Tiwari, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering & Technology, Indian Institute of Technology (B.H.U.) was one of the speaker. He gave his talk on Stereotaxic Surgery: Applications in Pre-clinical Research Including Optogenetics”. Dr. Niyati Acharya, Head, Department of Pharmacognosy, Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, gave a talk on the topic Experimental screening models for Alzheimer’s diseases”. There were total 24 students and 6 faculties participated in the workshop from various institutions. In the workshop participants got the exposure of brain surgery using stereotaxic apparatus and Microdialysis and behavioral assessment methods for rodents in various models.

A Two Day Workshop on “Internet of Things and Fog Computing” was organized by Electronics and Communication Engineering Department under the aegis of Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University during August 28-29, 2018. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. N.P Gajjar, Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department and Dr. Sachin Gajjar, Associate Professor, Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, of Institute of Technology, Nirma University.

The workshop was intended for faculty members from Engineering Institutes, Industry personnel and PG/PhD students working and/or doing research in the area of Internet of Things and Fog Computing.

The lectures and hands on sessions were conducted on topics such as “Internet of Things: Introduction, Applications, Architecture and Challenges”; “Hardware design of Internet of Things using Single Board Computers”; “Machine Learning for Internet of Things” and “Case Studies on Environmental Monitoring and Smart City Applications using IoT” were covered during the workshop. Hands-on sessions on hardware design for IoT using single board computers were also conducted. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Sachin Gajjar, Dr. Nagendra Gajjar from Nirma University and Mr. Madhukant Patel from Reve Automation and Mr. Sohil Patel from Oizom Technologies.

The program was attended by 36 participants from Nirma University and Gandhinagar Institute of Technology. The participants were faculty members and PG students from Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering streams.

A workshop for aspiring engineering Students (the students who had passed standard – XII) on the  "Engineering Mathematics - A Tool or Engineers" was conducted by Department of Mathematics & Humanities, under Center of Continuing Education Nirma University. The main objective of the workshop was to develop good problem solving skills related to Engineering Applications. The workshop got very good response and total 33 participants attended the workshop. The sessions were conducted by our Internal faculties Dr. Sandeep Malhotra, Dr. Mahesh Yeolekar, Dr. Kunal Pathak & Dr. Motilal Panigrahi.

Engineering Graphics, as one the foundation courses to students of all engineering discipline, a 3 Days Interactive Orientation Program titled as “Engineering Graphics – A Language of Engineer” for aspiring engineering students was conducted by Mechanical Engineering Department, under Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. The objectives of program are to understand the importance and application of engineering graphics, to understand the drawing instruments, to know methodology for preparing the engineering drawing to develop approach for learning the course with few fundamental topics and to develop visualization with the help of audio – visual aids and models.

The program got very good response and was participated by 23 aspiring engineering students. The fundamental topics of Engineering Graphics like Introduction to Engineering Graphics, Drawing Instruments and their use, Projection of Point, Projection of Line, Projection of Plane, Projection of Solid, Orthographic Projection, Sectional Orthographic Projection and Isometric Projection were discussed. The program was coordinated by and all the sessions were conducted by Prof. Anand S. Patel (Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department). The sessions were conducted with audio – video aids, models and animated solution of problems to understand and to develop visualization & imagination. The reference solution of problems was also shown to participants for better understanding of actual drawings.

A two day workshop on “Back End VLSI Design” was organized by Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University during April 6 – 7, 2018. The program was conducted under the coordinator-ship of Prof. Akash Mecwan, Assistant Professor and Prof. Vijay Savani, Assistant Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Institute of Technology, Nirma University.

Total Six sessions were conducted. On 6th April, 2018 total three sessions were conducted. Typical design ASIC and CIC design flow was discussed and hands on were carried out using VLSI CAD Tool. The complete flow of design and implementation of operational amplifier was discussed. Hands on session was conducted for simulation using mentor graphics tools was carried out. On the second day (7th April 2018) Prof. Vijay Savani covered Layout to GDS Flow, followed by the process variation, PVT, Corner analysis and Monte Carlo simulation was discussed. Prof. Akash Mecwan had coved the various issues and challenges in RF Design. He had also demonstrated and carried out the hands-on sessions for various simulation methods for RF circuit design.

The program was attended by 14 participants from institutes like VVP Engineering College, Rajkot and Nirma University. The student participants were streams like Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Department of Electrical Engineering organized a Two Days Workshop on “Enhancing Power System Capability through FACTS” for students, faculty, research scholars and industry personnel during 17th and 18th March, 2018 under Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). The programme mainly focused on the advances of power electronics technology that has led to the development of devices which in turn has enabled better utilization of existing transmission systems. All the sessions were conducted by internal faculty namely Prof. Dr. P. N. Tekwani (HOD, EE). Prof. Dr. S. C. Vora, Dr. Akhilesh A. Nimje, Dr. Siddharthsingh K. Chauhan and Prof. Chintan R. Mehta. These sessions were proper blend of class room and laboratory sessions on PSCAD, POWERWORLD SIMULATOR and MATLAB that helped the participants to analyse the critical issues. There were total 11 participants in the programme which included 10 participants from Nirma University and 1 external participant from SRCIT Ankleshwar. Out of these, 9 participants have successfully attended the programme. Participants were enlightened by the thought provoking discussions with the experts.

After the valedictory, the programme came to an end, leaving fond memories in the minds of expert speakers and a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment among all the participants, faculty and staff who were associated in its preparation.

Institute of Science, Nirma University and Biocare Research India Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad jointly organized a workshop on “Wastewater from Characterization to Treatment” under the banner of Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University during 12th to 14th March, 2018. The Resource Person for this workshop was from a UNESCO organization, Prof. Eric van Hullebusch , Chair Professor of Environmental Science and Technology, IHE – Delft, Netherlands. This Institute is the largest international graduate water education facility in the world. The technical sessions conducted by him for two days focused on wastewater and its characteristics, need and challenges for the treatment, microbial metabolic diversity and its role in treatment, aerobic and anaerobic modes of wastewater treatment and various test parameters to monitor the treatment. A talk was delivered by Shri Deepak Davda, CEO, Green Environment Services Co-op. Soc. Ltd., CETP, Vatva, Ahmedabad. Dr. Nasreen Munshi also conducted sessions on microbial aspects of wastewater treatment and on assessment of functional microbial diversity of wastewater microbial community. The workshop ended with a half day visit to CETP, Vatva.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Nasreen Munshi from Institute of Science and Dr. Purvi Zaveri (Desai) from Biocare Research (I) Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad. The total number of participants were 32, of which 25 were from different Industries, Consulting Firms and CETPs, rest were students and faculty members from outside Nirma University. The workshop got very good response and appraisal by the participants. The event also got covered by various newspaper articles and notes. Biocare Research (I) Pvt. Ltd, Institute of Science and Centre for Continuing Education Nirma University are thankful to the industries which sponsored generously for making this event possible.
